The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Complex mainly rock-cut souterrain, consisting of four passages, gallery and sub-rectangular chamber. Passage 1 (L 5.5m, Wth 0.7m-1m, H 1.2m) extends W-E, with entrance to passage or gallery (L 3m, Wth 1m) running S-N from middle of S side of passage. Passage 2 (L 3m, Wth 0.8m-1.1m, H 0.5m) runs SW-NE from E end of Passage 3 (L 4.1m, Wth 0.8m-1m, H 0.7m-1.2m). At E end of Passage 3 a drop-hole gives access to Passage 4 (L 13m, Wth 0.6m-1.3m, H 1.6m which runs W-E (11m) and then turns SW-NE. (CLAJ 1904, 37-9; CLAJ 1963, 261)
