The National Monuments Service's description
On the Down Survey (1655-6) map of Rathcline barony (NLI, MS 719) a castle is depicted in the NW part of Barnacor townland, where it forms the boundary with Drumnacor. Described by Lewis (1837, vol. 2, 555) as ‘the remains of the castle of Barnacor, apparently built to defend the pass of the river [Inny] in conjunction with Lot’s castle [see WM016-001] on the opposite bank’. Its precise location has not been identified.
