The National Monuments Service's description

In 1620, as part of the plantation of Longford, Faghny McConnell Farrall was granted lands including 'Lissivare [Agharra] and 1 water-mill' (Cal. pat. rolls Ire., Jas I, 481). It is depicted on the Down Survey (1655-6) map of Abbeyshrule barony (NLI, MS 719) as a vertical-wheeled water mill on the Inny River, a short distance to the SE of Agharra church (LF024-007001-). Its precise location has not been identified. A corn mill shown on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map may have been located close to or on the site of this water mill.
