The National Monuments Service's description
Depicted on an early 17th-century map of Rathcline barony (BL, Cotton MS Augustus I.i.48). At this time the townland was known as Cloghthomasbrowne. In 1604 Faghny Mc Teige O’Ferrall was found guilty of treason against the Crown and was seised of his lands, which included a castle in ‘Cloghthomasbrowne’ (Anon. 1826, 1 Jac. I). Its precise location has not been identified.
