The National Monuments Service's description
A densely packed bed of approximately 50 longitudinal small brushwood (exposed Wth 1.8m; T 0.05-0.1m) was exposed at the top of a W drain face . It was also evident in the opposite drain face, at a depth of 0.2m. Single longitudinal roundwoods were visible along the N and S sides with two roundwoods closely set in the centre. The latter rested on the brushwood bed. A separate cluster of brushwood lay immediately to the N. Another layer of small brushwood located 0.1m below the togher was obscured by the water in the drain. This may have indicated two distinct phases but it could also have been an artificial gap caused by silting along the level of the water surface. (Dunne 1999, 16, 99DR0006A)
