The National Monuments Service's description
On a N-facing slope within an area densely overgrown with scrub and small trees. There are numerous boulders of varying sizes in the vicinity. Not marked on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The Augustinian Canons foundation (LF018-066001-) is c. 750m SW. A rectangular building (int. dims. 7.2m NE-SW; 3.5m NW-SE) defined by very poorly constructed uncoursed drystone-built walls (Wth 0.35; H c. 0.3 - 1.2m). Of these the NE gable is the best preserved. There is a poorly defined entrance (present Wth c. 0.8m) at the SW end of the SE wall. No windows were identified. Neither was there any evidence for a chimney or hearth. Internally the building is divided into two unequal rooms or areas by a collapsed stone wall. Access between the two rooms was through a break in the centre of this wall (present Wth c. 0.3m). The larger room, at the NE end, measures 4.3m long; the second 2.6m. This building is thought locally to be associated with the 'abbey', upon whose lands it is located, but its morphology suggests that it is a 19th-century construction.
