The National Monuments Service's description
Associated a the fortified house (LF017-009003-). In 1664 the English Crown granted Sir George Lane the 'power to impark 600 or less or more acres in the said manor [Lanesborough] or in the manors of Rathcline and Lisduff' (Cal. S.P. Ire. 1663-5, 443). Noted by Nicholas Dowdall in 1682 as forming part of the improved estate of George Lane at Rathcline, 'the seat being very pleasant and well Improved with Orchards, Gardens [LF017-009008-], Fishponds [LF017-009005-] and a Deer Park' (Gillespie and Moran 1991, 208). The precise location of the deer park has not been identified.
