The National Monuments Service's description

Depicted on the Down Survey (1655–6) map of Mastrim parish (NLI, MS 719) as a tower house with a castellated wall-walk; a higher building adjoins it on one side. The terrier of the map records that ‘There Stands a Castle in Cawloge’ and Hugh Farrell, an Irish papist, is listed as the owner of these lands.
