The National Monuments Service's description

Associated with the 17th-century house (LF008-012----) at Castle Forbes that was subsequently incorporated into the present 18th/19th-century house. In 1682 Nicholas Dowdall noted that Lord Forbes ‘hath Impaled a Large Parke that is well stored with Deers' (Gillespie and Moran 1991, 208). According to the Forbes family history, the deer park was 'disparked in the year 1690, when the Castle was the last time besieged' (Hastings 1868, 72). This townland may mark the location of the deer park but no visible surface traces of the deer park boundary survive.
