The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the gentle E-facing slope of a N-S drumlin ridge, it is known as ‘Liscromaun Fort’. This is a grass-covered oval area (int. dims 46m NW-SE; 33m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at W: Wth of base 4.5m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 3m) S-W-NE which is reduced to a scarp (H 1.4-2.5m) elsewhere, and a complete flat bottomed fosse (Wth of top 5.1-5.5m S-W to 7.1m at E; Wth of base 1m at S to 2-3m normally; ext. D 0.7-1m). The entrance (Wth 4m) is at S.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
