The National Monuments Service's description

In 1595 a hospital is mentioned for the first time in connection with Cloone when land amounting to about three townlands was owned by the abbey for the hospital (Logan 1970, 57; Gwynn and Hadcock 1970, 32, 348). The nature of the hospital and its location are not known; it might have been anywhere in the parish although probably close to the church.
