The National Monuments Service's description

Located c. 85m from the W shore and c. 120m from the N shore of Lough Machugh, a subrectangular lake (dims c. 650-850m N-S; c. 300m E-W at N to c. 500m E-W at S). This is not depicted on any map but is a circular area of gravel and stone (diam. 5m) which is visible above the surface of the water. Below the water is an oval platform (dims 15-20m NW-SE; 10m NE-SW) of stone with several upright timber piles placed 0.5m apart (max. L 1m; diam. c. 0.1m) forming a line (L 5m) along the perimeter at SW.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
