The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a knoll (H flush at N to 3.4m at S) towards the bottom of a S-facing slope, with an E-W stream immediately to the S. This was recorded as a bivallate enclosure in 1945 (OSFM). It is now an oval grass and rush-covered area (int. dims c. 36m E-W; c. 22m N-S) overlain by a N-S field bank W of the centre. West of this feature it is visible as a grass-covered D-shaped area (int. dims 22.5m N-S; 12m E-W) surrounded successively by bands of light (Wth 4.6m), lush (Wth 5.5m) and light vegetation (Wth 1.2m) SW-N, but E of the field bank only slight traces of the outer bank as a slight outer scarp survives
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
