The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in improved pasture at the N-end of a small NW-SE ridge with a low-lying, poorly drained basin just to the E. The N-S River Shannon is c. 300m and a NW-SE section of the N4 road is c. 70m to the W. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a subcircular area (dims 24m ENE-WSW; 20m NNW-SSE) defined by a short, steep, tree-lined scarp WNW-N-ESE which is best preserved at ESE (Wth 2.2m; H 1.5m) and NNW but which is reduced to a grass-covered scarp (at S: Wth 3.4m; H 0.35m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse but the entrance may have been at SW.
