The National Monuments Service's description
Mr Jean-Charles Caillere reported features visible on GoogleEarth imagery (7-3-2010).
A grant of almost 1,000 acres at Garadice was made to Nicholas Pynnar in 1661-2 (Mac an Ghalloglaigh 1971, 251). Garadice House (LE025-051----) was erected sometime subsequently (possibly in the late 17th century) on the landward end of a peninsula running S into Garadice Lough. A sweeping entrance driveway and parkland appears to have been laid out to the N of the house and designed landscape features also appear to have been created, traces of which are visible on a series of satellite images: GoogleEarth imagery (7-3-2010); MapGenie Imagery (2005-2012); OSi Ortho 2010; DigitalGlobe (2013-2018) and MapGenie Imagery (2013-2018).
In gently undulating pasture, dotted with mature trees. Features visible on MapGenie Imagery (2013-2018) include a large circular earthen enclosure located c. 230m almost due N of Garadice House. The enclosure (est. diam. c. 50m) is defined by the remains of a broad bank with narrow internal and external fosses. An apparently embanked, and possibly later, ‘avenue’ runs ENE-WSW through the enclosure. Also visible are a series of associated linear features; broad ‘avenues’ running on different diagonal lines to S, W, N and E of the enclosure.
