The National Monuments Service's description
A Captain William Slack came to Ballinamore in 1693 and developed an iron industry there, which may have lasted until 1747 (Meehan 1925, 414-4). He moved to Kiltubbrid taking with him an iron fire-back with the date 1699, the only surviving product of the iron works.
