The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in a natural amphitheatre (diam. c. 30m) defined by an earthen bank planted with deciduous trees on the perimeter W-N-E, which is on the NE bank of a N-S stream. The enclosure is described as a 'fort' on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map and the perimeter is cut by a road bank at NE. There is a modern well, constructed of concrete and still in use, which replaces an earlier circular drystone structure (diam. 1m) beneath a rag tree to its W and the remains of a rectangular drystone well structure (dims 1.1m x 0.9m) is to the E. The well is approached from the E by a path from the public road, and the pattern is still held on March 17th.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
