The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on top of a drumlin. This is a grass and rush-covered circular area (diam. 36m N-S; 33m E-W; int. diam. 32.6m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth of base 5-6m; Wth of top 2.2m; int. H 0.8-1m; ext. H 0.8-1.2m S-W to 2.1m N-E) with a hedge and internal stone-facing. There is an external fosse which is best preserved (Wth of top 5.3-5.8m; Wth of base 2m; D 0.2m) N-E-S. The fosse is slightly curtailed at E by the N-S bank of an old lane. The entrance (Wth 1.7m), now blocked, is at E.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
