The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the head of a NE-SW valley on the SE side of a stream, in an area of rough pasture. It is indicated only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a 'Carn'. This is a loose circular cairn (diam. 10.5m; max. H 1.4m) with an oval quarry (dims 4.3m NNW-SSE; 3.6m ENE-WSW; D 1-1.4m) at the centre. There is no evidence of a kerb or other structural features.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
