The National Monuments Service's description
Situated at the W end of a low E-W ridge in a low-lying landscape. It is depicted as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 25m) only on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a 'fort'. This is an oval grass and rush-covered area (dims 54m N-S; c. 40m E-W) defined by scarps (max. H 0.8m) SSE-SSW and NW-N which fade out into the hillslope elsewhere. An original entrance is not identified.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
