The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in a slight N-S valley which opens out to the S, but the ground rises up almost immediately to the W, N and E. It is on the grounds of Newtown Manor, a large house that was built between 1835 and 1910 (OS 6-inch maps), but which is no longer extant. The pigeon house is a circular tower (ext. diam. 2.8m; int. diam. 1.8m; H c. 5m) with a doorway (Wth 0.8m; H 1.85m) at N. There was a floor 2.8m above ground level and there are eight tiers of pigeon-holes with brick divisions at the first floor with a large opening on the S side. The exterior is rendered with a string course over the ground floor and the first floor, and there are dainty crenellations on the parapet.
