The National Monuments Service's description

Unlocated castle within townland that is described by Carrigan as 'Seskin castle stood in the "Castle Meadow" in Seskin (Butler). It belonged to Lords Mountgarret but does not appear to have been at any time inhabited by any member of the Mountgarret family. Having ceased to be inhabited, it was taken down, in the early part of the 19th century, by Mr. Edmund Marum, of Seskin and even its foundations are now uprooted' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 310).
