The National Monuments Service's description

Unlocated well within townland. According to local tradition an ancient road 'traversed diagonally the parish of Borris (in Ossory), passing through Ballykelly (Bealach Eli), and Clonagooden, then by Britthawce Well in Ballybrophy, where part of it can still be seen, and then through Bushfield to Aghaboe. Britthawce well is situated near the road junction called the 'Green Road'' (Cunningham 1987, 161).
