The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in undulating countryside. Marked on the 1841 ed OS 6-inch map. Visible on aerial photograph (GSI 1973, N. 228/7) associated with site of church (LA013-018001-) and graveyard (LA013-018002-). A low bank barely discernible from NW to NNE. No other visible surface remains.

Site re-visited by Caimin O'Brien on the 08 May 2007. In pasture, on a slight rise of ground with poorly drained land to the N of the church, good views in all directions. The church (LA013-018001-) and graveyard (LA013-018002-) are situated on top of a circular rise of ground that may have been enclosed by a roughly circular enclosure (approx. int. diam. 135m NE-SW) of which only the NE quadrant survives (Chord L 62m) incorporated into the townland boundary. On the first edition of the OS six-inch map this enclosure is shown as a semi-circular field boundary that was upstanding from W through N to E, with no evidence of an enclosing element on the S side of the church and graveyard.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
