The National Monuments Service's description
On a local prominence at W edge of Heath. A sub-circular ring-barrow (max. ext. diam. 10.7m N-S) defined by a central mound (diam. 4-4.5m; max. H 0.5m) and a flat bottomed fosse (Wth 1-1.5m; D 0.8m) which is shallowest at S (D 0.4m).
Site re-visited by Caimin O'Brien on the 08 May 2007. Site consists of a slightly sunken circular mound (diam. 4-4.5m; max. H 0.5m) enclosed by an inner fosse (Wth 1-1.5m; D 0.8m) with the slightest suggestion of an external fosse (Wth 2m; ext. H 0.1m). Some dumping has resulted in the infill of the inner fosse in places.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
