The National Monuments Service's description

Located c. 400m E of the E perimeter of the medieval Thomastown (KK028-040----). Carrigan (1905, vol. 4, 258) quotes the notes of Rev. Moore, dated 1851, which mention, ‘at Cody’s bridge [KK028-089001-], stood a castle of the McOdos or Codys, alias Archdeacons. Its foundations were to be seen standing about 59 years ago’. Cody's Bridge is indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as ‘Monteen or Cody’s Br.’ but the castle is not indicated. The precise location of this castle is unknown within the vicinity of the bridge.
