The National Monuments Service's description
The OS Letters (1839) mention a holy well, ‘called Tobar Chiarain (Tober Keeran) in Castlegarden Bog about one and half miles [c. 2.4km] from the [round] tower [of Tullaherin KK0024-062004-]’ (O’Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 262 (85-9)). This reference may refer to a holy well which is indicated as, ‘Tobaratoo’ (KK024-086----) on the 1st (1839) OS 6-inch map and on the 1899-1902 revision is roughly 2.4km SE of the round tower and is located on the edge of marshy terrain in Castlegarden townland. Otherwise, the holy well is unlocated within the townland.
