The National Monuments Service's description
A large building, likely to be a house, is indicated on the Down Survey (1655-6) barony map of Kells, Co. Kilkenny W-SW of the Augustinian Priory (KK027-029004-) and NW of the glebe land S of the Priory (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). The house is also indicated on the Down Survey composite maps (Farrelly et al. 1993, 175). This may correspond roughly to the location of Kells House, which is indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map, however, the precise location of this house is unknown.
