The National Monuments Service's description
Associated with the medieval church of Newtown Earley (KK027-012001-). A large number of graveslabs were uncovered during a clean-up of graveyard (KK027-012009-) in 1985-7 (Harte 1987, 408-17). These are currently lying within the interior of the church.
A tapering slab (upper portion L 1.09m; Wth 0.53m at top; lower portion L 0.83m; Wth 0.38m at base) with chamfered edge, decorated with an incised four-armed floriated with a circle at the centre of the cross-head. The cross-head rests on the cross-shaft. There is a knop on the shaft below the cross-head and the shaft terminates in a fleur-de-lys. There is an inscription in Lombardic script on the upper surface along the dexter side. The slab is broken into two pieces with a horizontal break roughly below the centre. Stylistically this graveslab dates to the 13th/14th century. (Harte 1987, 410, no. 8).
