The National Monuments Service's description

The Down Survey (1655-6) barony map of Shillelogher, Co. Kilkenny (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin) depicts a castle in the S portion of the 17th-century townland of 'Killbracan' which equates with the modern townland of Kilbrickan. Another large building, which appears to be a house (KK026-027----), is depicted S of it, on the N bank of the Kings River. Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 335) refers to, 'a castle here, close to the King's River, in a field called Srawdh-a-tee-moozh [Stáid an tí mhóir], or Street of the Big House'. The precise location of the castle is unknown within the S portion of Kilbrickan townland.

Carrigan, Rev. W. 1905 (Reprint 1981) The history and antiquities of the diocese of Ossory, 4 vols. Kilkenny. Roberts Books and Wellbrook Press.
