The National Monuments Service's description
Lying in the NE angle of the chancel of St Mary’s church (KK026-010012-), Callan, formerly beside the pulpit (Carrigan 1905, vol. 3, 299). A long narrow tapering polished limestone slab (L 2.03m; Wth at top 0.6m; Wth at base 0.32m; T 0.12m) rising slightly (O.03m) above the surrounding floor slabs. The edge of the slab is defined by a raised chamfered border. The slab is decorated in false refief with a four-armed lozenge-shaped cross with fleur-de-lys terminals. There is a circular knop beneath the cross-headed. The cross-shaft (Wth 0.03m) terminates with a fleur-de-lys. A thin raised band (Wth 0.01m) crosses the face of the graveslab horizontally about two-thirds from the top. The graveslab does not appear to bear an inscription. Stylistically this graveslab dates to the 13th/14th century.
