The National Monuments Service's description

Indicated as a small semi-circular quarry (dims. c. 33m NW-SE; c. 12m NE-SW) on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and as a semi-circular enclosure of similar dimensions on the 1900 revision. This may be a quarry which was later misinterpreted by cartographers as an enclosure, or it may be an enclosure and the 1st ed. map may be erroneous. A third possibility is that it is an enclosure which was subsequently quarried. The OS maps give no indication of the continuation of the enclosure on the E side of a townland boundary which runs NW-SE along the E/straight side of the semi-circular feature. This area E of the townland boundary is indicated on both editions of the OS maps as a small tree plantation, which is still visible on satellite imagery (Google Earth imagery date 24 April 2021). Satellite imagery (Google Earth imagery date 14 July 2018) shows the feature as a dark semi-circular cropmark, which suggests that this is a filled in quarry.
