The National Monuments Service's description
Lying on the floor in the SE corner of a 19th-century C of I church which was built on the former chancel of the 13th-century church of St Mary’s (KK020-060006-) in Gowran. A tapering sandstone slab (max. L 0.97m; surface L 0.91m; overall Wth at top 0.37m; overall Wth at base 0.33m; surface Wth at base 0.25m; T 0.19m) with a chamfer (Wth 0.08m) around the upper edge. The top edge of the slab including most of the upper arm of cross, the upper portion of the sinister edge and the base of the slab are missing. The slab is decorated with an incised cross, the lower portion of the shaft and base of which are missing. The cross-head consists of a four-armed cross with trefoil terminals and a lozenge with four leaves at the centre. Beneath the cross-head there is an oblong knop. There is no visible inscription. It is very similar to another graveslab (KK020-060055-) within the church. Stylistically this dates to the 13th/14th century.
