The National Monuments Service's description
According to O'Kelly (1985, 66), Abbeygrove townland was, 'formerly part of Dunbell which was Jerpoint Abbey lands. The dwelling house of the O'Neill family here is believed to have been a chapel belonging to the Jerpoint monks'.
