The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, reclaimed marsh. One of seven fulachta fia (KK020-013----; KK020-039----; KK020-075----; KK020-076-----; KK020-077----; KK020-078----; KK029-079-----) noted by O'Flaherty (1983, 16) during fieldwalking in advance of the laying of the Cork-Dublin gas pipeline in the townlands of Clohoge and Rathcash, Co. Kilkenny, but the only one excavated as it lay within the pipeline corridor (O'Flahery 1987, 45). All the fulachta fia had been ploughed out, but were visible as roughly circular spreads of burnt stone and charcoal (O'Flaherty 1983, 16). As the monuments had no visible troughs they have been reclassified as burnt mounds.
Excavation revealed burnt stone and charcoal spread over a 2m wide area and that the original extent of the mound on the S side was 1.5m, visible as soil discolouration and burnt stone embedded in the boulder clay level (O'Flahery 1987, 45). There were no associated finds and no trough was uncovered, though this may have been outside the limit of the excavation (ibid.).
