The National Monuments Service's description
Indicated on the Down Survey (1655-6) barony map of ‘The Liberties of the Citty of Kilkenny’ and on the Down Survey parish map ‘The Parrish of St. Johns in the Liberties of Kilkenny’ as water mill with a vertical mill wheel on the N bank of the River Nore, in the SW portion of 'Pursers Inch' 17th-century townland which equates with the modern townland of Purcellsinch (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). The terrier accompanying the parish map lists Mr. Buckly Pro[testan]t' as the proprietor in 1640 (ibid.). The precise location of this water mill within the SE portion of the townland is unknown. Another water mill (KK019-082001-) is depicted in the SE portion of the townland.
