The National Monuments Service's description
On a prominent esker on the southern outskirts of Kilkenny City. Human remains were found during quarrying in 1969 with further burials (KK019-105001-) coming to light in 1975. The burials were all inhumations in a very disturbed context. One shallow pit containing a partly articulated skeleton was aligned WNW-ESE. A small circular mound (KK019-105----), noted on the surface of the quarry, proved to be a modern landscape feature with disarticulated bones from the surrounding graves incorporated in the mound material. (Ryan, M. 1975 Gallowshill. Mound. S 6055. Available at: http://www.excavations.ie [accessed 11 February 2013]). Testing in the area in 2005 failed to uncover anything of archaeological interest. (Ó Drisceoil 2008, 198) (Cahill and Sikora 2011, vol. 2, 354-6)
