The National Monuments Service's description
At St Mary's parish church (KK019-026115-) in Kilkenny. A fragment of a roughly rectangular chest tomb mensa or ledger (dims. 0.74m x 0.2m), of fossiliferous limestone, built into the base of a cross-wall constructed in 1804 connecting the SW side of the church with the graveyard wall (Bradley 1980, 10, no. 23). The inscription in raised relief Latin blackletter reads:
. YE. QUONDAM. BURGENNS.
VILL . .PRECORNT . TUA.
IETABILI. MIA & GRA.
. SUT. ET. SEPELIENTUR.
IN. ISTO. LOCO. AME[N]
It translates as, … ye sometime burgess of the town (of Kilkenny) say a prayer you (who pass) and was buried in this place. Amen.
