The National Monuments Service's description
At St Mary's parish church (KK019-026115-) in Kilkenny. Richard(?) Shee armorial plaque 1608(?) set into the S wall of the medieval chancel, above a 13th-century tomb niche, within which may be the buried remains of a ledger (Ainsworth and MacLysaght 1958, 219; see Burke 1835, 122). A rectangular panel (L 0.61m; Wth 0.62m), composed of fossiliferous limestone, bearing the arms of Shee impaling Fagan. In false relief on either side of the base of the shield are the initials ‘R S’, probably for Richard Shee, who's tomb (KK019-026332-) is situated nearby.
