The National Monuments Service's description

In a low-lying area in undulating pastureland. Excavated in 2007 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road improvement scheme (Licence no. E3756). Remains consisted of two pits, c. 8m apart, each in association with a tree-bole. One pit (L 1.14m; Wth 1m; D 0.2m) contained some heat-shattered stone. A sample of ash charcoal from this pit was radiocarbon dated to 2140-1966 cal BC (UBA-14039). The other pit (L 1.42m; Wth 1.3m; D 0.31m) had some evidence of in situ burning. There was no stratigraphic relationship between the two but it is possible that the fire in one was used to heat the stones in the other. (Kyle 2010, 250, no. 949; Kyle and Coughlan 2011)
