The National Monuments Service's description

At the NW end of a field on an ENE-facing slope. A natural spring enclosed by a rectangular covered well constructed of flat pieces of drystone shale, built into the slope of the field. The mouth of the well is covered by two large flagstones. According to local information the well was constructed in the 1970’s. There is no local knowledge of the well being used for ritual. At the time of visit the well was being used by the adjacent quarry works as a water source.
