The National Monuments Service's description
Castle indicated on the Down Survey (1655-6) parish map of ‘Canice’ (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). In the terrier accompanying the map, the proprietors of ‘Cloran’ in 1640 are listed as Henry Archer and Thomas Shortall (ibid.). The precise location of the castle within the townland is unknown.
