The National Monuments Service's description
The terrier accompanying the Down Survey (1655-6) parish of ‘Freshford and parte of Coolerahin’ (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin), notes that there is 'at Balliroe=Shortall a Castle & a Church and Cabbin with a Mill [KK013-096003-]' and the proprietor in 1640 listed as Thomas Shortall Irish Papist. The castle (KK013-096001-) and cabins (KK013-096004-) are indicated on the map but not the church. The precise location of the church within the townland is unknown.
