The National Monuments Service's description
According to Lyng (1946-47, 14) a 13th/14th-century castle was present in Ballyragget before the existing late 15th/16th-century tower house (KK010-001001-) was built and was possibly located in the vicinity of the latter. The precise location of this castle is unknown.
