The National Monuments Service's description

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 203), in the townland of Maudlin there is a large pit called, 'Closh-ee-Canavawing or O'Canavan's pit' and near the pit, 'to the south-east, there is a round hill, called Cruckawn-na-berree, on the top of which a grave, filled with human remains, was discovered'. The precise location of this burial within Maudlin townland is unknown.
