The National Monuments Service's description
In Donaghmore church (KK010-005001-). According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 83) this was located in the SE corner of the chancel. It is described as a chest tomb with an inscription in latin in raised letters transcribed by Carrigan (ibid.) as, 'THEBALDVS. BVTLRVS. ET. VXOR. EIVS. MARGARETA. PATRICII. HOC. SEPVL.' and translated as, 'Theobald Butler and his wife Margaret Fitzpatrick [got] this tomb made'. The slab is dated to c. 1600 (Cockerham and Harris 2001, 186). The chest tomb currently occupying the SE corner of the chancel is a concrete construction. To the W of this modern tomb, against the S wall, there is a medieval slab (KK010-005006-)which appears to be portion of a mensa and may be part of the tomb to which Carrigan refers.
