The National Monuments Service's description

On the crest of a narrow ridge in rolling grassland. There are commanding views in all directions across lower lying lands. An ovoid platform (max. dims. 33m N-S; 20m E-W, H 2-3m; H c. 1m, except at W where H is 2-3m) with no visible trace of banks or an original entrance. Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 320) refers to it as 'Raheennamuddach - There is a rath in Lough, called Raithín na mBodach, or little Rath of the Churls. A man named Bowe lives at it'.
