The National Monuments Service's description
In the S wall of the chancel of a 13th-century church (KK001-005001-). The plaque commemorates the restoration work carried out on the church by Fr. Jacob Wale in 1646. The plaque is within a rectangular recess (H 0.55m; Wth 0.43m; D 0.1m) with cut limestone surrounds. The recess is above a narrow pointed doorway which was probably inserted as part of the restoration work commemorated by the plaque. The plaque bears the following inscription in latin, transcribed by Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 110-13), in raised lettering: Haec ecclesia A R: Jacobo Wale eiusdem ecclesiae Recto re reedificata est 14 Avg. ano Do 1646.
