The National Monuments Service's description

In rough hill pasture, on the lower W-facing slopes of Knockowen. The remains of mainly curvilinear, stone walls (T 0.7m; H 0.75m), which protrude above the surface of the shallow bog, are visible throughout an area measuring c. 150m N-S x 85m E-W. Several breaks were noted in the walls. Upright stones occur at irregular intervals at right angles to the line of the wall. Rubble is scattered downslope. There is a fulacht fia (KE109-014007-) at the S end of this network of walls.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
