The National Monuments Service's description
In the demesne of Derreen House. According to Lansdowne (1937, 187), not far from the house there is 'one of those curious erect stones...known in Ireland as 'gallauns'...'. The precise location of this standing stone is not known.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
